Investing in Dividend Stocks

Investing in Dividend Stocks

In our current economy landscape, the interest rates of the banks are low. If we save all our hard-earned income in the bank, the real value of our savings will be eroded over time. The present inflation rate is much higher than the bank’s interest payout for our savings.

To beat the high inflation rate, it would be a better option for us to invest in dividend stocks. Investing in dividend stocks provide us higher annual returns and we can benefit from the capital gains of the stocks as well. As such, it will be good for us to know the methods to pick the fundamentally sound stocks with good dividend yield to invest in, so as to safeguard the value of our money.

In this seminar, we will share with you the methods to identify fundamentally sound stocks with good dividend yields. You will learn the interpretation and use of key financial ratios for dividend analysis as well.

Speaker's Profile

Clive Tan
Executive Director
8I Holdings Limited

Clive Tan is a successful entrepreneur and an astute value investor who co-founded the 8I Group in 2008 amidst the Lehman Brothers crisis with the belief and ideals of creating sustainable value through value investing.

From his humble beginnings as a secondary school teacher, Clive got acquainted with the idea of value investing through an investment workshop and upon further research into the area, began modelling his investment strategies of renowned value investors, including Warren Buffett and adapting it to the Asian context.

Through prudent investments and careful planning, Clive accumulated enough investment returns within 5 years to start his first business with his wife after acquiring & turning around an existing loss-making childcare business, and turn it into a successful and profitable one before selling it for a good profit. With his business profits and passive income from his investments, Clive is currently free to pursue whatever work or interest he desires.

With his background in Education, Clive is passionate about sharing his investment knowledge and the importance of financial literacy with the public. He has authored books including “Value Investing for Employees” which is one of the best-selling titles in the Value Investing series.

He believes that a person earning even an ordinary wage level can invest wisely and become financially free.
