Company Background

Berger is one of the oldest names in the paint and specialist coatings industry. Its history can be traced back to London in 1760, when Lewis Berger founded the business. Over the years, through mergers, acquisitions and the establishment of operations in many countries, the business has grown in size and stature. The Company is the holding company of the Group's operations in the Far East and the Middle East. These have been managed from Singapore since 1991.

The Company was incorporated on 3 December 1993 as a private limited company. It was converted into a public company on 31 March 1994. The Company is an investment holding company. Through its operating subsidiaries and associate company, the Group is engaged in the manufacture and distribution of paints, the sale of raw materials and the contracting of painting projects.

In November 2002 , Asian Paints, India's largest paint company acquired 50.1 percent stake in Berger. Asian Paints has been a player in the paints business for over six decades. After the entry of Asian Paints, together, Berger will have operations in 24 countries with combined paint manufacturing capacity of 330 million litres per annum and will rank among the top ten decorative coatings companies in the world.
